Which Svenstol® is right for me?

27. September 2024
kvogel

A Svenstol® is an investment for many years. As with buying a car, you should therefore think carefully about which model and which extras you need. Here are a few tips to help you decide.

Regardless of which model and design you choose, these features characterise every Svenstol®:

  • Permanently high seating comfort
  • The avtivePlus mechanism, which allows you to quickly switch between a relaxed and active sitting posture
  • Stability and durability, as all components are designed for 24-hour use and conventional office chair components are not used.

S or X

If the chair is to be used around the clock, then you have the choice between the Svenstol® S5 and S6. If you are looking for a chair for the office and home office - but conventional office chairs are not comfortable or stable enough for you - then a Svenstol® X5 or X6 will be of interest to you. The two X models differ from the 24h models only in a few design details and materials and offer the same comfort and ergonomics.

5 or 6

Svenstol® S5 or S6 or Svenstol® X5 or X6?

In principle, it's just a question of personal taste, as the models only differ in design apart from a few details. Only the upholstery of the S5/X5 is slightly more contoured, you sit more "in the chair". Possibly the reason why this design is favoured by our customers.

Fabric or leather

No matter which type of upholstery you prefer, the chair upholstery materials are high-quality, durable and fulfil important sustainability standards (including Ökotex 100 and „Blauer Engel (Blue Angel)“). As with the design, the choice of cover type depends primarily on personal preference - you prefer to sit in either a fabric or a leather chair. Apart from the price, fabric and leather differ essentially in these properties: fabric covers are more breathable than leather covers - which is particularly noticeable on hot summer days. Leather covers, on the other hand, are easier to care for due to their smooth surface and are the more hygienic solution, especially if the chair is used by different people. For these reasons, the users of our 24-hour chairs prefer the partial leather version - a combination of fabric and leather. An attractively priced alternative to genuine leather would be imitation leather. However, you have to accept a few concessions in terms of comfort, durability and breathability.

With or without headrest

From our point of view, this question is superfluous. Anyone who buys a Svenstol® will use it intensively and will want to sit in the chair both leaning back and actively working. In our opinion, a Svenstol® without a headrest therefore makes as much sense as a bicycle without a saddle. Our customers seem to be of the same opinion: a Svenstol® without a headrest is ordered about as often as a bike without a saddle.

Komfort-Kopfstütze

Svenstol®- or T-armrest

As the name suggests, we have developed the Svenstol® armrest exclusively for the Svenstol® models. It can be adjusted in 8 locking positions, can be folded backwards, has a comfortable padding and is the most stable armrest we know of thanks to the aluminium support. It can also be optionally combined with lateral height adjustment. The alternative are T-armrests, as we know them from normal office chairs, which are also adjustable in width. 9 out of 10 Svenstol® customers opt for the Svenstol® armrest.

Pneumatic or mechanical lumbar support

There aren't many, but it does happen from time to time that a Svenstol® is ordered without lumbar support. A decision that we cannot really understand. Even though the active sitting position and the inclination of the seat of the Svenstol® help to prevent a hunched back, we believe that a lumbar support is a definite must for an ergonomic chair. Whether it should be the pneumatic or the mechanical version is probably a question of price on the one hand - which speaks in favour of the pneumatic version - and on the other hand how precisely you want to adjust the height and depth of the curvature of the backrest - which is the advantage of the mechanical solution. Both versions effectively help to prevent poor posture when sitting. If you already have problems with your intervertebral discs, you should probably opt for the mechanical version.

Extras or no extras

Model, cover, headrest, armrest and lumbar support - these are the important parameters for your investment in healthy, comfortable seating for many, many years. Depending on your requirements, you can then add extras such as the 150+ version (reinforced seat shell, mechanism and gas spring, for users up to 230 kg), armrest cover or protective covers for the seat, backrest and armrests.

To configure or not to configure

For those who like to make quick decisions and don't like to spend a lot of time on selection processes, we simply recommend our two bestsellers for 24-hour and office use.

You will be satisfied - we can guarantee it.
