What are Climatex covers?
Climatex upholstery fabrics from the Swiss manufacturer of the same name are made from a blend of synthetic and natural fibres. They are used for seating on aeroplanes, cruise ships and buses, among other things, which already indicates that they must be highly resilient and particularly easy to care for.
Climatex covers: All-round talent for high demands
Climatex upholstery fabrics combine many advantages in one solution. They enable optimum temperature and moisture regulation, are particularly hard-wearing, durable and robust. This makes them a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional covers, which we like to use for our 24-hour chairs designed for high load-bearing capacity and ergonomics.
Advantages of Climatex covers at a glance
- Efficient temperature and humidity regulation: Climatex upholstery fabrics really come into their own when it comes to regulating temperature and humidity. In order to achieve the best values here, the structure and plasticity of the covers have certain special features. For example, the multi-dimensional microstructure of the Climatex upholstery fabric quickly equalises temperature differences. Compared to a polyester fabric, the heat transfer coefficient of Climatex covers is more than two and a half times higher: 72 instead of 27 W/(m2 - K). This ensures greater seating comfort and a better seating climate.
- Reduced sweating: Thanks to the efficient dissipation of body heat, the seated person also sweats much less quickly. Any moisture that does occur is regulated by capillary action, which drains it into the fabric where it is evenly distributed. The result: the surface of the seat cover remains dry and discomfort caused by damp clothing is prevented. Tests have shown that the cooling effect of Climatex covers noticeably reduces the heart rate at high indoor temperatures, which in turn benefits performance and concentration. The special plasticity of the fabric also has an anti-slip effect.
- High durability: The abrasion resistance of Climatex upholstery fabrics is 500,000 abrasion cycles according to the Martindale method (DIN EN ISO 12947-2), a top value in the range of specifications applicable to control centres (200,000-500,000 abrasion cycles). The values for light fastness (6-7 according to DIN EN ISO 105- B02) and rub fastness (wet: 4-5, dry: 4-5 according to DIN EN ISO 105-X12) are also absolutely top.
- Low flammability: Climatex upholstery fabrics are also classified as "flame retardant" in accordance with DIN EN 1021 1/2, BS 5852 0/1 and the California TB 117 standard. This is due to the grid of natural fibres, which maintains the structure of the fabric when exposed to heat by retaining the melt particles of the synthetic fibres.
- Very durable: The high strength and durability of Climatex fabrics contribute to the longevity of the seating furniture fitted with them. The covers are easy to clean and guarantee a high standard of hygiene.
- High sustainability: Climatex upholstery fabrics can be broken down into their components and completely reused: The natural fibre component is composted, the synthetic fibres are completely recycled. Their sustainability is certified in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and the Cradle-to-Cradle Certified Standard.
